提唱 Teisho at Rinzai Hakone Zendo

This is Teisho from our weekly zazen sitting at Hakone Gardens. Zengo are given as part of the"teisho" (teaching) at the end of the zazen period. The phrases are meant to encourage students to deepen their own understanding of the meaning by opening "shin" (heart/mind).

SESSHIN: SILENCE, STILLNESS, and FREEDOM

Sesshin:  gathering or collecting the Mind/Heart (shin).  Mind meaning integration of heart (compassion) and head (understanding). Awareness of who we really are.
